Ukrainian Fashion History Digital Archive
The Ukrainian Fashion History Digital Archive collects and preserves materials on the history of Ukrainian fashion, focusing on the 20th century. Its mission is to inform and educate a wide range of audiences by collecting, preserving, and interpreting materials on Ukrainian fashion history and cultural heritage. These archive materials will be especially useful for students, scholars, and fashion professionals.
Olha Korniienko, the head and founder of the Archive, is a fashion historian with a Ph.D. in History. For over a decade, she has researched the history of Ukrainian Soviet fashion during the Cold War. She has worked in numerous archives in Ukraine, Russia, Germany, and the USA, analyzing thousands of periodicals and conducting over 50 interviews about fashion and everyday life. As a result, she has amassed a large collection of materials, which has grown into the Ukrainian Fashion History Digital Archive.
The Archive platform is continually seeking new materials, and you can contribute too. We welcome donations of clothing, household items, documents, magazines, books, videos, and photographs related to the history of Ukrainian fashion in the 20th century. Your involvement is especially crucial now, as Ukraine faces a full-scale war with daily losses, including cultural and historical treasures. Together, we can preserve Ukrainian heritage for future generations!
